Proposed Dunedin Health and Disability Expo

We are in the very early planning stages of a Health and Disability Expo for Dunedin in 2009. We have surveyed many groups and individuals and believe that this event would be a great resource for the community. We want this event to reach its full potential, and so have decided to facilitate an organisiting committee. We are a small agency and do not have the resources to do it alone! We are seeking interested parties to fill the following committee positions:
  • Chairperson
  • Marketing/Media
  • Funding
  • Education Rep
  • Mental Health Rep
  • ODHB/Health Rep
  • DCC Rep
  • Disability Sector Rep
  • Employment Rep

We intend for the committee to hold its first meeting in early May 2008 with the initial task of appointing an event coordinator. Please lodge your interest with DIS no later than Friday 25th of April 2008 with a brief outline of your skills/abilities in one or more of the above areas.

If you have any suggestions about this event please feel free to blog away!!!

Is our Health System FAIR?

New Zealanders with illnesses recieve significantly less funding than those covered by ACC. Equity-for-illness believes these inequities amount to discrimination. We aim to see Ministry of Health eligibility criteria brought into line with current ACC entitlements: creating a needs-focused, non-discriminatory health delivery regardless of the cause.

Please support our petition: http://www.equity-for-illness.org.nz/

Posted by DIS on behalf of equity-for-illness.
